Illustrate proficiency while using common personal productivity applications, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Student is aware that personal productivity software exists, but does not know how to use most applications, or when to use them. Student has a rudimentary knowledge of how and when to use most personal productivity applications, but does not use them effectively in creating professional deliverables. Student has extensive knowledge of personal productivity applications, and knows how and when to use them to develop professional deliverables. Illustrate proficiency while using Internet-related technologies to accomplish business-related research tasks.

 

Student can access the Internet, but is unable to effectively search for, or navigate through websites, or assess the quality or reliability of websites. Student can perform rudimentary searches to access a limited set of relevant websites to produce research output displaying elementary insight and a limited set of perspectives. Can identify current, detailed and appropriate information no specialized topics to produce research output based on reliable sources, displaying obvious depth of insight and a variety of perspectives. Illustrate how information technology (I/T) can be applied for organizational advantages.

 

Student understands that I/T plays a role in organizations, but can not specifically explain how. Student can explain in general terms how I/T can help organizations deliver products and services faster, more economically, and more effectively. Student can offer explicit examples from a variety of industries of how I/T has helped organizations deliver products and services faster, more economically, and more effectively. Illustrate the role for development or procurement of I/T-based business solutions.

Student understands that I/T is important to organizations, but does not appreciate their role with I/T, seeing themselves strictly as a “user” of I/T. Student understands that issues related to either the development or procurement of IT solutions require their participation, but does not understand how to participate. Student understands that issues related to either the development or procurement of IT solutions require their participation throughout the acquisition cycle, and understands how to participate. Demonstrate proficiency for managing and adapting to changes brought about by evolving technologies.

Student believes that changes and innovations just “happen”, and requires outside assistance  on adapting to these changes.  Student is slow to adapt. Student appreciates that innovation and change management processes exist, but can not articulate what they are and requires outside assistance to adapt to changes or to be more innovative. Student can articulate the elements of successful change management initiatives as well as those practices that support successful innovation, and can develop personal strategies to quickly adapt to changes and be more innovative.
