Goal 1:  The student will be proficient in the concentration: FIR.
  • Evaluate proposal for replacement of fixed asset.
  • Determine optimal capital budget and financing thereof.
  • Evaluate risky asset with constructed utility functions.
  • Perform stock valuation using BISECT or similar program.

Goal 2:  The student will be proficient in concentration: MIS.

  • Identify and discuss various types of IS applications and identify their roles within the organization.
  • Understand how IS technology may be used to implement organizational strategy and gain competitive advantage.
  • Understand and discuss the technical, organizational and managerial issues related to the use of IS technology.
  • Understand major topic in the database field from an applied perspective including relational database, steps and required activities of database development, and query languages.
  • Complete conceptual, logical and physical design of a database based on a given set of business rules and requirements.
  • Understand the concepts and terminologies of data communications and networking pertaining to solving business problems.
  • Identify and discuss the factors considered in the selection of network hardware, software, topologies, and protocols.
  • Understand and discuss the concepts, techniques, and tools of systems analysis and design.
  • Conduct systems analysis for a given business case using data and process modeling.

Goal 3:  The student will be aware of factors affecting business in a global society.

  • Identify global factors.
  • Analyze global factors.
  • Apply analysis to management situation.
  • Analyze the political, social, cultural and technological domains of Globalization.

Goal 4:  The student will be a problem solver.

  • Explain theories and facts in the functional areas.
  • Apply theories and facts to solve problems.
  • Synthesize knowledge in functional areas to solve problems.
  • Critically evaluate arguments, theories, and recommendations.

Goal 5:  The student will be competent in the use of technology.

  • Use common business application software packages.
  • Use internet for common business research tasks.
  • Use technology for communication and presentation.
  • Use analytical tools effectively.

Goal 6:  The student will be an effective communicator.

  • State purpose: early, clearly, creatively, skillfully.
  • Sense audience: demographic, level, preparation, goals, interest, humor.
  • Organize and develop: structure, connect, separate, flow .
  • Support ideas: detail, research, references, documentation, expertise.
  • Understand topic: depth; connections to past, present, future disciplinary knowledge.
  • Correctly use grammar: sentence structure, spelling, word usage, tense, case, number, gender, punctuation, syntax variety.
